Friday, October 16th

In this workshop we will explore climbing variations and several sequences from single, and double foot locks, with an emphasis on cleanliness of execution and efficiency of movement. You will learn how make even the simplest skills look fluid and graceful.
This is an experienced beginner to intermediate level workshop to refine and build upon basic skills.
Students should be comfortable with climbing, single/double foot locks, and inversions in the air.

DIVE, SPIN, and ROLL
Add dynamic excitement to your aerial repertoire! Learn how to work with momentum in your movements to create daring athleticism with strength and control. In this workshop we will explore multiple variations of drops that flip and/or rotate, plus several spinning moves.
This is an intermediate and advanced level workshop exploring three planes of movement: forward diving, spinning, and horizontal rolling.
Intermediate and advanced level students should be comfortable with: hip key, cross back straddle from egg beaters, single and double star drop.

ELEMENTS of PERFORMANCE
How do you take what you know and put it all together? What makes an aerial performance interesting? In this all levels workshop students will work with the skills they know and learn how to connect the dots.
Looking at the elements of smooth, sensible transitions, timing, musicality and expression, we will work towards creating a routine that is cohesive, dynamic and versatile - while adding individual style and personality. We will explore the various aspects that make an aerial performance fun and exciting to watch.
**There will be no warm-up or conditioning drills in this workshop so please come prepared and ready to climb and move!
Ability to stay in the air for 2 - 3 minutes at a time.
Laura Dasi has been a performing artist for over 30 years. She appeared as a contestant on season 9 of America’s Got Talent in June 2014, where she amazed and inspired millions of people across the world not only with her aerial performance but by sharing her story of overcoming difficulty to follow her passion and pursue her dreams. Laura is a former classical ballerina and enjoyed a professional dance career in New York City for 7 years. After retiring from the stage and becoming a mother, Laura turned her attention to yoga and has been a certified yoga instructor for 12 years. Her yoga teaching is influenced by her many years of dance training and incorporates fluid movement with deep stretching, breath work and relaxation. In January 2011 Laura ventured into circus arts, focusing mainly on aerial silks and lyra, and felt an immediate natural inclination in this new endeavor. Drawing upon her extensive experience in dance and yoga, her skill level grew quickly. Laura continuously thrills audiences with her daring display of strength, agility, grace and passion while floating high above the ground. Often described as “ballet in the air” Laura feels aerial arts is where she truly excels and that she has found the perfect form of creative expression. She continues to challenge herself with each piece she choreographs, incorporating new levels of technical difficulty while integrating her innate sense of emotion and musicality. Laura performs at music festivals, private parties, weddings, corporate events and theatrical shows. Laura resides in San Diego, CA.
